In this post I have included some hikes as well as some places around the island where you can go and walk while enjoying the beautiful Koan Nature. To fully appreciated the places depicted in the posts you have to make an effort, be curious and take a look around for yourself. Just explore the island. Chances are that you will see some flamingoes at the Tigaki Salt Pan, while you will definitely see some peacocks in Plaka and you will most probably come across a tortoise, a lizard or the colorful dragonflies if you get around and about. So I urge you again to Explore the island!!!
I will be improving upon this list in the future as I gradually increase the sites’ catalogue of available hikes. A large part of the island is uninhabited so there are plenty of places that remain very secluded and only get visited by the odd shepherd in search of some lost goats. Often these same goats create the little paths that we use to explore a region. Other islands such as Nisyros or Tilos and to some extent Kalymnos have plenty of clear cut, well kept trails offering hiking options that we do not have on the island of Kos. As a result hiking in Kos tends to be more adventurous.
